For believers who started with divine clarity but hit unexplainable resistance.
You were moving forward.
The direction was clear.
God confirmed it multiple times—through Scripture, peace, prophecy, counsel.
You stepped out in faith…
And everything collapsed.
Now you’re wondering:
“Did I miss God?”
“If He said go, why did everything go wrong?”
“Who pulled the plug on what He approved?”
This devotional uncovers three biblical case studies where God gave the go-ahead—but something or someone interfered with the fulfillment.
📌“Thou shalt not go with them…” (v.12)
📌“If the men come… rise up and go with them…” (v.20)
📌“And God's anger was kindled because he went…” (v.22)
-Numbers 22:12, 20–22 (KJV)
What Happened:
God first said no to Balaam's request to go with Moab’s messengers.
After repeated asking, God permitted it—but wasn’t pleased.
Balaam thought he had a green light. But an angel stood in the way to kill him.
Lessons:
Just because God permits something doesn't mean He endorses it.
📌 When you push past God’s “no,” He may step aside—but His angel may still stand in the road.
📌“Smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it…”
- Exodus 17:6 (KJV)
“Speak ye unto the rock… and it shall give forth his water…”
*“And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice…”
“Ye believed me not, to sanctify me… therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land…”-Numbers 20:8, 11–12 (KJV)
What Happened:
First time: God said “strike the rock”—and it worked.
Second time: God said “speak to the rock”—but Moses struck it in anger.
Result? The mission was cancelled. Moses was disqualified from entering the Promised Land.
Lessons:
Past obedience doesn’t excuse present disobedience.
📌You can have a green light from God, but how you carry it out still matters. Your method can pull the plug on your own promise.
📌“Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it…” - Deuteronomy 1:21 (KJV)
📌“Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God…”- Deuteronomy 1:26 (KJV)
📌“But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness…”=Deuteronomy 1:40 (KJV)
What Happened:
God said: “Go in and possess the land.”
But the people feared the giants and refused to move.
Result: A 40-year delay. That generation died in the wilderness.
Lessons:
Disobedience delays destiny—even when God has said yes.
📌 God’s green light still requires courage and action. Hesitation pulled the plug on the promise.
Sometimes, we blame God for “changing His mind”
…when in truth, it was:
Our presumption (like Balaam)
Our disobedience (like Moses)
Our fear and rebellion (like Israel)
📌 The green light is real. But the enemy—or our own heart—can still cause a short circuit.
